Toowoomba State High School is a large secondary school in the beautiful Garden City of Toowoomba in Queensland. We have such a great school they had to make it twice! Yes! We have two campuses for students in Grades 8 to 12 in the city: Mt Lofty and Wilsonton!
You can study a range of subjects at both campuses and we have included details for you on the website. Courses are the same at both campuses from 8-10 and in Senior Phase we tailor them to best suit the community and interests of the students.
In 2011 we developed a sharp focus on improving our school’s attainment, achievement and transitions for all students by concentrating on only three things. In 2012 this continues with our focus on:
- Great Teaching: Developing best practice using research and teacher teams;
- Great Programs: Implementing the 8-10 Australian Curriculum in Maths, Science & English as well as ensuring a high quality Queensland curriculum in all other areas;
- Great Literacy: Really focusing on the teaching of reading comprehension in a school-wide approach; and
- Great School: Implementing a new student leadership model, renewing facilities and celebrating student and staff achievement. In 2011 our suspension rate dropped dramatically (almost 50%) and our OP, NAPLAN reading and QCE achievement went through the roof.
This year we are aiming to be amongst the best performers in the state in all targeted areas: Achievement, Attainment (OP, VET, QCE), Attendance, Behaviour, NAPLAN.
I am very proud to lead the school – it is a great place to be! And our great progress has been due to the partnership with families, great commitment, effort and motivation by our teachers, innovative leadership at all levels of the school.

Toowoomba State High School welcomes students from all locations in all grades and we no longer have an enrolment management plan. This means that enrolling in Year 8 has never been easier. In fact we can 100% guarantee you a place in Y8!
